At the time of writing, Mary and Karla have produced 27 video podcasts, each lasting up to around 30 minutes. It's difficult to put this show in any sort of catagory, or even to describe what it's about, because in a Jerry Sienfeld sort of way - it's a show about nothing. That's where the similarity ends though, because where Jerry is funny, these two struggle to raise a laugh for the whole 30 minutes. Read on to see why we wouldn't really recommend this show, even though it actually made it into the Top Ten video podcasts at iTunes at one point. How to get The Mary and Karla Show The easiest way to get Mary and Karla video on your PSP is to automatically download and install with Sony's Media Manager RSS Feeds section. You can do that by adding this link to the your feeds. They also produce an audio feed, which you can download here if you prefer to listen rather than watch. Their official website lists every episode to date with m4v encoded downloads, or you can visit the itunes page if you prefer. Alternatively you can download each episode from their website and convert it to the PSP's AVC format using a free tool such as PSPVideo9. Using Sony's Media Manager to download, convert, and transfer episode 26 took x minutes with a resultant file size of xxMb. Using PSPVideo9 to complete the exact same process took x minutes with a resultant file size of xxMb. The Hosts Mary and Karla are obviously friends from way back; they laugh at the same jokes and know what each other is going to say before they say it. The Show As I said earlier, it's hard to pinpoint exactly what this show is about, so maybe we'd better let them describe it themselves - so, what exactly is Mary and Karla about, Mark and Karla?
Hmmm, so plenty of valuable search engine keywords there courtesy of heavy hitters Katie Holmes, other A-list celebs and of course the "s" word, but what does it really all mean? What it means is that what you get with Mary and Karla is what you see. Two quite attractive bored housewives shooting the breeze while plonked down infornt of their PC. Occassionally they'll brighten things up with a trip to the post office, or a visit from the chippingdales! I think you should be starting to get the picture here, this is one for the ladies by the ladies - not really a guy thing. Having said that, their new forums are surprisingly (or not) full of men...... Conclusion Like an Episode of Lost, you've got to sit through an awful lot of inconsequential false leads before getting an occasional nugget of entertainment. Subscribe at your peril. |
